CDHB hospitals have been busy but are coping well on the first day of the MRTs (radiographers) strike, according to Jock Muir, who is heading the CDHB’s contingency planning for the strike.
The strike will continue until Monday 20 November (except Friday 17 November) unless negotiations between the APEX Union and seven DHBs are successful before this time.
“There have been no major incidents at CDHB sites today but a number of life preserving requests have been made of the union,” Mr Muir said.
Over the weekend, people with arm, hand, ankle, foot and minor injuries should call an after hours clinic – Pegasus Health 24 Hour Surgery in Bealey Ave, Moorhouse Medical or the Riccarton Clinic and After Hours.
For major injuries, people should not hesitate to seek immediate help from Emergency Services.
