Medical Laboratory Workers Union Strike Update

The first day of strike action by members of the Medical Laboratory Workers Union has gone without any major incidents at Canterbury District Health Board hospitals.

“Strategies to reduce demand for laboratory services have been working and hospitals have been coping.” CDHB strike co-ordinator Jock Muir said.

“There have been no reported problems with demand for blood services and no requests for Life Preserving Services,” he said.

The Medical Laboratory Workers Strike will continue until 8am Wednesday 6 December unless negotiations between the Union and 15 DHBs are successful prior to this time.
