Public health nutritionist, Bronwen King, is taking her healthy eating message to the nation with appearances on TV One’s Good Morning show.
Bronwen, who is also a qualified chef and science teacher, already has a healthy eating TV cooking show on Canterbury Television and regularly writes for food and health publications. However the TVNZ opportunity is a chance to reach a much wider audience with her healthy eating message.
“The cooking shows are part of the Ministry of Health’s Feeding Our Futures campaign,” says Bronwen. “We’re trying to promote healthy eating by demonstrating how to prepare yummy food made from low cost, everyday ingredients. These are the sort of meals that people make on a regular basis, only we’re showing how to make healthier versions.
“We want to get the message across that if you cook your own meals you’re more likely to eat healthier food, because you’re in control of what you’re eating. It’s also really important to get kids involved in meal preparation because kids eat better when they eat with you. They learn from your example.”
Bronwen’s cooking demonstrations will run on the next three
Thursdays in August.
