Statement from Duncan and Emma Woods

Duncan and Emma Woods would like to pay tribute to their four year old son Nayan, who tragically died after being hit by a car on Linwood Avenue, Christchurch late Friday afternoon. He was a fun loving boy, who was always great to spend time with. He was a best friend to his brother, Jacob (6) and we will all miss him terribly. We ask that you use the photograph we supplied of Nayan in any media coverage. We believe it captures him beautifully.

Jacob is expected to make a full recovery from the broken bones he has experienced as a result of the accident. He is now in a comfortable condition in Christchurch Hospital.

We don’t have any anger towards the motorist involved in this terrible accident. It is a tragedy for us all.

Thank you to everyone who has helped us and supported us in the last few days – the police, Christchurch Hospital and ambulance staff, our neighbourhood, work colleagues, family and friends. You have shown us enormous kindness.

At this stage we do not want to speak to media.
