Frequently asked questions and answers about the Nursing Entry to Practice (NetP)/NetP Expansion Programme at Canterbury District Health Board.
| Question | |
|---|---|
| Q: | I completed my degree over six months ago, am I still eligible to apply? |
| A: | Yes, as each
application is considered individually. If you haven’t been
working in nursing, it’s important that you highlight your most
recent clinical practice and your strengths. We also appreciate it
if you explain in your letter of application why you haven’t
been working, as this helps with the selection process.

| Q: | I trained overseas, can I still apply for the programme? |
| A: | Yes, as each
application is considered individually. As your health system may
be different from the New Zealand system, you may need to provide
comprehensive descriptions of the clinical areas/ specialities you
have worked in. For example, Ward 30 in a hospital is better
described as ‘oncology/haematology ward’.
You will need to ensure that you have NZ Registration along with a current NZ Practicing Certificate before applying for the programme. As it may take some time to obtain both, you will need to allow extra time for this. Information about this can be accessed through the New Zealand Nursing Council website on www.nursingcouncil.org.nz and click on Registration. Work permits are also required if you do not have NZ citizenship. These can be obtained from the New Zealand Immigration service on www.immigration.govt.nz
