AIM OF THE PROGRAMME

The aim of the Nursing Entry to Practice (NetP)/NetP Expansion Programme is to provide a well supported environment for the Newly Registered Nurse to be safe, skilled and confident in their practice.

PROGRAMME STRUCTURE

We offer two programme intakes a year commencing January and September. The programme runs for 52 weeks and usually consists of two six month placements, with some specialty areas and primary/community placements having one year placements.  We provide  continuing education and professional development designed to build on the skills that you have gained in your undergraduate degree.

• A wide ranging choice of clinical placements
• A comprehensive orientation of the Canterbury Regional Programme
• Ongoing support from a trained Preceptor, including supernumerary time in each placement
• Study days
• The opportunity to be part of a community of Newly Registered Nurses

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

• Hold a nursing degree from a three year New Zealand Nursing programme accredited by Nursing Council of New Zealand (NCNZ).  (Overseas  newly registered candidates will also be considered)
• Hold registration with NCNZ – with no restrictions on the practicing certificate that would negatively impact on their ability to participate in the programme
• Be a New Zealand citizen or Permanent Resident
• Have graduated within the last year and have not practiced as a Registered Nurse for longer than six months
