The Day Ward is located at the entrance to the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit and approximately 2400 patients
pass through the ward each year.
It is staffed by Haematology registered nurses and provides a range of treatments, most commonly blood or platelet transfusions and chemotherapy treatments.
The Day Ward administers treatment that would otherwise require patients to be admitted to hospital.
As some of the treatments can take up to 6 - 7 hours, comfortable chairs are
provided for use during treatment. For certain procedures, beds are
available to enable patients to lie down.
Lunch and refreshments are provided for those patients who are required to stay for the day.
