Medical Council Registration & Immigration

In order to be appointed to a medical staff position with us, you must hold registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.

Before proceeding with your application for a position, please contact the Medical Council of New Zealand to determine your eligibility for registration.

Do you need a work permit?  
If you are not a New Zealand or Australian citizen or resident, you must apply for a work permit at your nearest New Zealand Embassy or High Commission.

This may take several weeks, so we recommend that you begin this process immediately.

Please note that you will require an appointment letter from us before New Zealand Immigration will approve your work permit.  In some cases, you will also require a letter of approval in principle for medical registration to obtain your work permit.
