Wendy Fulton Wendy Fulton became Clinical Manager of the Physiotherapy Dept in 1996. A NZ registered physiotherapist, her primary role involves the leadership and management of physiotherapy staff based at Burwood. She has a clinical interest in the management of lymphoedema and an additional role as the Manager of the Hydrotherapy Pool. She is an active member of the N.Z Society of Physiotherapists and is a past President of the Canterbury branch. |

Dr Richard Acland Dr Richard (Rick) Acland is currently employed full time at Burwood Hospital as Director of Medical Services. In this role he provides medical leadership and advice to the General Manager at Burwood Hospital. Dr Acland is also Clinical Director of the Spinal Unit and is one of three consultants providing a comprehensive specialist service to patients with spinal cord injury. Dr Acland is a consultant at the Pain Management Centre and leads the neuromodulation team, consults for the Auckland Spinal Unit, is a member of the Medicine Assessment Advisory Committee and is Vice President of the NZ Pain Society. |

Dr Peter George After studying in Medicine at the University of Queensland, Dr George worked for a time at Christchurch Hospital and then in General Medicine. He commenced training in Chemical Pathology at Christchurch and was then appointed as a consultant. Dr George has extensive experience in private and public pathology, and in the development and application of computerised laboratory information systems. His main clinical and research interests are in the molecular pathology of human disease, including thrombosis and hyperlipidaemia. He is also interested in markers of cardiovascular risk, nutrition, proteins and trace metals. Dr George has published over 100 papers in international journals. |

He has worked for the Hospital and School since 1984. |

Dr Peter Moore Dr Peter Moore, MB, ChB, FRACP, is a graduate of Otago University. He is a General Physician with special interests in the areas of diabetes, endocrinology, and obstetric medicine. His post-graduate training was undertaken in Christchurch, Oxford and Adelaide. His clinical duties for the Canterbury District Health Board are in diabetes at the Diabetes Centre, obstetric medicine at Christchurch Women’s Hospital, and General Medicine at Christchurch Hospital. |

Dr Bruce Chapman Bruce Chapman joined the Department of Gastroenterology in 1981 as a senior lecturer in medicine (Christchurch School of Medicine). In 1996 he was appointed a fulltime gastroenterologist with Canterbury Health. In 2001 he was appointed the Clinical Director of Gastroenterology. Special interests include liver disease, viral hepatitis and the diagnosis and management of biliary tract disorders. |

Dr Mike Davis Mike Davis is a Specialist Anaesthetist who has worked in Christchurch since 1977. Mike has an interest in diving & hyperbaric medicine since his medical student days. In November 2000 the new multi-person recompression chamber became operational with Mike as half-time Medical Director. With enough staff and these excellent facilities, Mike states that he is able, at long last, after many years of frustration, to provide a proper hyperbaric medical service to the Canterbury & wider community. |

He was appointed as a nephrologist in 1980 and was Clinical Director from 1991 to 2000. He took up his post as Chief of Medicine in July 2000. He has extensive experience in clinical research and the use of computers in medicine and is a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Otago. |

Professor Spencer Beasley Clinical Professor of Paediatrics and Surgery, Christchurch School of Medicine. Formerly a Consultant Paediatric Surgeon/Paediatric Urologist at the Royal Children's Hospital, Melbourne, and Senior Lecturer, Department of Paediatrics, University of Melbourne, and then appointed to Christchurch Hospital in 1996. He has a special interest in oesophageal atresia and the embryogenesis of congenital malformations. Has written or edited six textbooks. He is involved in the development of Credentialling Processes at Christchurch Hospital. Is also the Chairman of the Board of Paediatric Surgery, Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, and President of the New Zealand Society of Paediatric Surgeons, editor of the Journal of Paediatrics and Child Health, and an Editorial Consultant of several other international journals, and an examiner in Paediatric Surgery for the RACS. |
