Maori Health Project Dietitian - Cecileah Win

Cecileah Win is the Pegasus Health, Maori Health Project Dietitian working with patient referrals from Pegasus GPs.

Cecileah has a particular focus on the prevention and management of Type 2 Diabetes – a condition that is currently taking a significant toll on Maori health. She firmly believes that with healthy eating patterns and regular physical activity the onset of Type 2 Diabetes can be prevented or delayed. She also believes that with commitment, practical advice and a supportive environment, people can achieve gradual lifestyle changes that will improve their health.

In 2002 Cecileah produced a video and workbook package that aims to help people – particularly Mäori at risk of developing Type 2 Diabetes – to make that change. This package costs $35 and can be ordered through Diabetes Life Education, Private Bag 4710, Christchurch, or phone 03 379 5120 for more information.

Her career is still in its early days but already her passion for Maori health is making a difference.
